Childbirth Pain Relief Course
Natural Pain relief in Childbirth
Shiatsu is very effective natural pain relief for women during childbirth at home & in the maternity ward. Those electing for an epidural usually have to labour some hours before its administration & Shiatsu offers effective pain relief then, aswell as for those who plan a natural birth.
Shiatsu uses direct pressure applied by birth partners to shiatsu points (or acupuncture points- they’re the same thing!). This can dramatically reduce pain and promote a more relaxed positive birth experience, giving partners an active, beneficial & deeply supportive role. Expectant couples learn this unique set of specific techniques on a 3hr course.
What experience has the teacher?
Most importantly Brian O’ Leary Dip ESS MSSI is a father who used Shiatsu for labour to help his wife Anne with the birth of their son Ronan in Oct 2008 and daughter Ella in June 2011. He attended a home-birth in October 2010 providing pain relief with Shiatsu through the labour and showing Dad how to help in the delivery stage. Brian has completed post graduate study in Shiatsu for pregnancy and labour with internationally renowned Shiatsu practitioner, teacher and author Pamela Ferguson and midwife/acupuncturist Debra Betts.
